Austin Family and Foote Family Papers, 1842-1907.

This collection contains an account book and household accounts of the Foote family, as well as political tickets for Oakland County, Michigan (1864), materials on reunions of the Grand Army of the Republic and the Women's Relief Corps., and articles on the Battle of Chickamauga. The majority is the correspondence, diaries, class notes, and teaching certificates of Hattie Foote Austin. These deal with personal matters, travel and teaching problems in the 1880's. Letters from her cousin, George Hodge, describe life at Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan in the 1880's. Also included are business papers of Andrew V. Austin dealing with the Michigan State Telephone Company and the Detroit Telephone Company.
